Personal Profile
It's been a long six years here at ACLC, in that time I have done a lot of work I am proud of, and also some work I am not so proud of. I have achieved a lot here at ACLC because of my great time management, my knowledge and interest in science, my creative thinking, my amazing teamwork, and my ability to apply technology to a task. ACLC in one way or another has helped me develop these skills into what they are today.
REFLECTIVE ESSAY
WORK HABITS ND ATTITUDES
My Junior year science fair project is a great example of work I am proud of, my project won first place at the ACLC science fair, and an honorable mention at ACSEF. I was able to accomplish so much with my science fair project thruogh my great time management. When doing this project I set out a detailed plan for what I was going to do, and when I was going to do it. This left me with enough time to ensure that each element of the project was perfect. I made sure that I had enough time to double check everything so there were no errors. In the previous year where I had procrastinated more, my projects were riddled with spelling and grammar errors, the board looked hastily laid out as opposed to the well organised look I had in my Junior year project.
NEW BASICS
Science is by far my favorite subject in school, it is the subject I am most knowledgeable of. When I graduate from High School I want to go into marine bio. I love science because I find it interesting, in science you don't have to wonder what the real world application of what you learn is because everything is based on reality. I am very knowledgeable about science, in chemistry I was always at the top of my class, I always achieved good grades on tests, I was always too when we did labs, and I always looked forward to the class. In Biology I got good grades on most of my tests and projects, I usually helped lead discussions, and took a leading role in labs. I always got an A in the science fair, I have won first place twice and third place once. Every career I have ever had any interest in has been in science, every subject I have thought about majoring in has been a science degree.
THINKING AND REASONING SKILLS
My creative thinking has helped me achieve what I have in my time at ACLC. I enjoy coming up with my own ideas, when I do the science fair I come up with my own project rather than stealing an idea off of science buddies. Every year I have had an interesting project that has gotten an A. I usually have good creative ideas that make our groups presentation differ from the rest of the class, for example when I did a presentation on woodstock I came up with the idea of using different tie dye in the title of each slide. When I was in digital music my music was often times different and more creative than the rest of the classes music, rather than using the musical template that David provided I came up with my own ideas. My creativity made my music a lot better, and more unique sounding than the rest of the classes music. ACLC has helped my sharpen my creative thinking, and has helped my learn to apply it to my school work.
TECHNOLOGY
I have always had an interest in technology, I enjoy when work is on the computer rather than on pencil and paper. I am particularly good at applying tech to my work whenever possible. I know how to use all of the software, like google drive extensively. I know how to make detailed spreadsheets and graphs, and visually appealing presentations. When I make a presentation it looks good and profesional. I have used technology to complete a variety of projects including presentations, videos, songs, and games. I don't think I would get as good of grades on presentations if I didn't know how to use my computer to its full potential.
I have gained and improved upon a lot of skills during my time at ACLC, without these skills I wouldn't have achieved as much as I have. My skills and interests gained from ACLC have shaped my as a person, and have guided my on my current path of majoring in Marine Bio. Skills like applying technology, teamwork, and time management will help me be as productive as possible throughout my life. My time at ACLC has improved my as a person, both academically, and personally.
